Zoomをご存知だろうか？
今やコロナのおかげで多くの人が知ることになったZoom。
元シスコシステムズのエンジニアがスピン・アウトして作った会社。
袁征（ユエン・ジェン）、Zoomの創業者だ。
奇しくも彼の成功のスタートは日本にあった。
下記リンクにあるように、
『袁征は日本へ出張した際、たまたまマイクロソフトの創始者ビル・ゲイツ氏の講演を聴く機会があった。その時、ゲイツ氏が「情報の高速道路」という概念を説いていて、その言葉に啓発された。』
1994〜1995年、Windows 95 に代表されるIT業界が大きく変わっていく時代にアメリカで働きたいと思った彼はその後8回も、アメリカからVisaを拒否されて入国できずに苦しんでいる。
彼の成功物語はさておき、当時私もこのビル・ゲイツの講演には出ていた。
写真にある私が大好きな、リチャード・ブランソンとの共演だ。
かたやITの貴公子、かたや超すぎるほどの自由人。
PCを自在に操り講演するビル・ゲイツに対して、紙の大学ノート一冊だけ持って登壇したリチャード・ブランソン。
自分のアイディアを書き留めるノートを片手に「私のパーソナルパソコンです。」って言ってた。
今考えると、超軽いノートパソコンだわ！！
その時の講演控室での日本のマイクロソフトの社長の裏話がこうだった。
後に彼のブログに書いている。
「成功者の話を聞いただけでは成功できない」
「今日、俺たちの講演会を聞きに来ている人たち、何人いるの？3000人だって、バカだなあ、今日ここに来てる奴らは、成功なんてできるわけないよな。そうだよね。成功したいんだったら、俺たちの話を聴いている暇なんてないよね。俺だったら、会社に戻って今すぐ働くな」
そう言い合って笑っていた。
どうだろう？
その聴講者の中にいた、袁征（ユエン・ジェン）は、創業９年で今や時価総額４兆円を超える企業の創業オーナーだ。
思うのは、講演でも、本を読んでも人から感化されるのは非常に良いことで、その後のアクションと、思いや意志の強さと、運が大事なんだろうと思う。
あの講演のあと、何人が彼らの話に触発されて、啓発されて、自分の夢に向かって動き出したのだろう。
往々にして、「いい話だったな」、で終わる人の多いことか。
そして日常の忙しさに忙殺されていく。
動かない人、動く人。
ここが1つ目の分岐点。
そしてその後の動き続ける原動力は、その感じたことを信じる力と、信じ続ける力と、強い意志。
自分の思う世界を信じて、その夢に向かい動き続けること。
片時も休まずに思い続けること。
体は休んでも、頭は考えてしまう、そんな気持ち。
この強い意志を持ち続けること。
ここが2つ目の分岐点。
当時の上司に言われたことは、経営者になりたいのだったら、なんでもビジネスの視点で捕らえろと。
なんで、そのビジネスが利益出るのか、数字で考えろと。
全く自分に関係のない業界であったとしても、その業界の収支を数字で捕らえろと。
寝ても冷めても考えろと。
視点を大事にしろと。
その後、その思考が興味になった。
海外に行ってはフリーペーパーの収益構造を考えてたり、航空会社のBEP（ブレイクイーブン）を考えたり。。。
強い意志と数字。
「片手に夢、片手にそろばん」
みたいな感じでしょうか。
※ かくいう私も、リチャード・ブランソンに憧れ、1995年に最初の創業、株式会社プライム・リンクを設立した。
残念ながら、当時はIT業界に興味がなく、違う業界でブランソンに憧れて自由を求めて会社設立。
当時の運や、周りの助けもあり、創業から約6年で株式を上場できました。
だから、今、コロナで世界の経済はズタボロになってるけど、ゼロからのスタートはどこも同じ。
大手に対抗できるチャンス。
規模が小さかったことが幸いすることもたくさんある。
周りと協力し、知恵と思考で明日を見て、肯定的に人と付き合い、明日を信じて生きていく。
人生を諦めるな。
人生は短い。
夢を身にまとい、自分の人生を生きよう！

Have you heard of Zoom?
Many people are now familiar with Zoom thanks to Corona.
The company was created by a spin-out of a former Cisco Systems engineer.
Yuan Zhen, the founder of Zoom.
Coincidentally, his success started in Japan.
As shown in the link below,
Yuan Jen happened to be in Japan on a business trip and had the opportunity to listen to a lecture by Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft. I was enlightened by Gates' concept of an "information highway.
He wanted to work in the U.S. in 1994-1995, a time of great change in the IT industry represented by Windows 95, and he suffered eight times since then, being denied a Visa from the U.S. and unable to enter the country.
Aside from his success story, I was also present at this Bill Gates' lecture at that time.
He was co-hosting with Richard Branson, whom I love in the photo.
One is a nobleman of IT, the other an extremely free man.
While Bill Gates spoke with his PC at his disposal, Richard Branson took the stage with only a single paper notebook.
With a notebook in his hand to jot down his ideas, he said, "This is my personal computer." He said.
Now that I think about it, that's a super light laptop!
This is what the president of Microsoft in Japan had to say behind the scenes in the waiting room for his speech at that time.
He later wrote in his blog.

How many people are coming to listen to our lecture today? That's right. If they want to be successful, they don't have time to listen to us. If I were you, I'd go back to work right now.
They laughed at each other saying that.

One of those in the audience, Yuan Jian, is the founding owner of a company that has been in business for nine years and now has a market capitalization of over 4 trillion yen.
What I think is that it is very good to be inspired by others, whether by a lecture or by reading a book, and that subsequent actions, strength of thought and will, and luck are all important.
I wonder how many people were inspired and enlightened by their stories and started moving toward their own dreams after that lecture.
I wonder how many of them ended up just saying, "That was a nice talk.
And then they get busy with the busyness of everyday life.
Those who don't move, and those who do.
This is the first turning point.
And after that, the driving force to keep moving is the power to believe in what you feel, to keep believing in it, and to have a strong will.
Believe in the world you want and keep moving toward that dream.
Keep thinking about it without resting even for a moment.
The body rests, but the mind thinks.
To hold on to this strong will.
This is the second turning point.
My boss at the time told me that if I wanted to be a manager, I should look at everything from a business perspective.
He told me to think about why the business was profitable and to think in terms of numbers.
Even if you are in an industry that has nothing to do with you, you need to figure out the revenue and expenses of that industry.
Think about it in your sleep and when you are cold.
He told them to be mindful of their perspective.
Later, that thinking became his interest.
When I went abroad, I thought about the profit structure of free newspapers, BEP (break even) for airlines, and so on.
Strong will and numbers.
Dream in one hand, abacus in the other.
I guess it is like that.
I, too, admired Richard Branson and founded my first company, Prime Link Corporation, in 1995.
Unfortunately, I was not interested in the IT industry at the time and founded the company in a different industry, yearning for Branson and seeking freedom.
With some luck at the time and some help from others, we were able to go public about 6 years after the company was founded.
So now, the world economy is in shreds because of Corona, but starting from scratch is the same everywhere.
This is our chance to compete with the big players.
We are fortunate in many ways that we were small in scale.
Cooperate with others, look at tomorrow with wisdom and thought, deal with people in a positive manner, and live with faith in tomorrow.
Don't give up on life.
Life is short.
Wear your dreams and live your life!
