In his famous March on Washington speech, he said, "We shall overcome.
We shall overcome.
We shall overcome.
Even if we have to go a long way.
As long as there is justice at the end.
We shall overcome.
Because "falsehood" will not live
Will not live forever.
We shall overcome.
I believe it deep in my heart.
Is there justice in our philosophy, in our vision?
Is there justice in the direction we are heading?
What is the business for? Is there justice in that?
Is there social justice in our principles?
Because falsehood will not live forever.
These are heavy words.
Businesses that are built on lies will one day cease to exist.
It is the same in my own surroundings.
Businesses that created an era, that took the world by storm, are disappearing.
And in an instant.
Businesses that surpassed the times are easily disappearing.
And in an instant.
Publicly traded companies that surpassed their time are being delisted.
And in an instant.
It is impossible for a company to be delisted or to delist within 5 or 10 years of being listed.
It is impossible.
I would like to say that it is such a light thing.
Because they are not truly righteous, because they are false companies.
A business is false, a philosophy is false, and what you don't truly believe is false.
False businesses and false principles do not attract people.
Dr. King's speech strikes a chord because there is justice in it.
There is a spirit of speech in his speeches.
When we convey our thoughts and beliefs, whether they are conveyed or not depends on whether or not we have the spirit of speech.
It depends on whether or not there is a spirit of words.
It depends on whether or not you have "justice" in your heart.
It depends on whether he truly believes it from his heart.
The plating that doesn't is easy to peel off.
President-elect Obama has been compared to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr,
Whether he is "righteous" or "false" is a matter for the American people to decide,
The American people will be the ones to judge whether he is "righteous" or "false.
What about Japanese politics? There are few people who stand for "justice.
It is almost as if politics in Japan can only stand for "falsehood.
I hope that Japanese people will soon have people who can stand for "justice" in politics.
I have a dream.
I say to you today, my friends so even though we face the difficulties
of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted
in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise
up and live out the true meaning of it's creed, "We hold these truths to
be self-evident, that all men are created equal". I have a dream that one
day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons
of former slaveowners will be able to sit down together at table of the
brotherhood. I have a dream that one day even the State of Mississippi,
a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat
of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation
where they will not judged by the color of there skin but the content of
their character. I have a dream today! I have a dream that one day down
in Alabama with vicious racists, with its Governor having his lips dripping
with the word of interposition and nullification.One day right there in
Alabama, little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with
little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers. I have a dream
today! I have a dream that one day "every valley shall be exalted, every
hills and mountains shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain,
and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord
shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together."
This is our hope. This is the faith that I go back to the South with.
With this faith that we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair
a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling
discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this
faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle
together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing
that we will be free one day!
This will be the day... This will be the day when all of God's children
will be able to sing with new meaning, "My country, 'tis of thee, Sweet
land of liberty, Of thee I sing: Land where my fathers died, Land of the
pilgrims' pride, From every mountainside, Let freedom ring." And if America
is to be a great nation, this must become true.
So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire. Let
freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York. Let freedom ring from
the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania! Let freedom ring from the
snow-capped Rockies of Colorado! Let freedom ring from the curvaceous
slopes of California! Not only that. Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain
of Georgia! Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee! Let freedom
ring from every hills and molehills of Mississippi, and from every
mountainside! Let freedom ring and when this happens. When we allow freedom
to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from
every state and every city, we will able to speed up that day when all
of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants
and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the
old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we
are free at last!"
友よ、私は今日皆さんに 申し上げたい。
今日も明日も、いろいろな困難や挫折に直面しているが、
それでもなお、私には夢がある。
それは、アメリカの夢に深く根ざした夢なのである。

目下のところ悪意に満ちた民族主義者に牛耳られており、
連邦の決定に対して、
知事の口から「干渉」とか「取消し」という言葉しか出てこないこのアラバマ州においても、
いつの日か幼い黒人の少年たち・少女たちが、
幼い白人の少年たち・少女たちと手をつなぎ、
兄弟姉妹として歩けるようになることであろう。
今日、私には夢がある。
私には夢がある。
いつの日か谷はすべて身を起こし、 山と丘は身を低くせよ。
険しい道は平らに、狭い道は広い谷となれ。
主の栄光がこうして現れるのを、 肉なる者は共に見る。イザヤ書40:4-5)
これが私たちの希望なのである。
こういう信仰を持って、私は南部に帰る。
こういう信仰があれば、私たちはこの国の 騒々しい不協和音を、
こういう信仰があれば、私たちは絶望の山から、希望の石を切り出すことが出来る。
兄弟愛の美しいシンフォニーに 変えることが出来る。
こういう信仰があれば、私たちは共に働くことができる。
共に祈ることができる。
共に闘うことができる。共に監獄へ行くことができる。
共に自由のために立ち上がることができる。
いつかは自由になると信じることができるのだ。
その日こそ、神のすべての子どもたちが、
あの歌を新しい意味を込めて歌うことができる日となるであろ。
わが国、それは汝のもの、麗しき自由の国。
われは汝を讃える。
わが父祖たちの死せる国、巡礼父祖の誇れる国、
すべての山腹から自由の鐘を鳴り響かせよ。
もしアメリカが偉大な国になるべきなのであれば、
このことが実現しなければならない。
だから、自由の鐘を鳴らそう ニュー・ハンプシャーの大きな丘の上から。

テネシーのルックアウトマウンテンから！自由の鐘を鳴らそう！
自由の鐘を鳴らそう！ミシシッピのすべての丘やモグラ塚からも！
山腹のいたるところで自由の鐘を鳴らそうではないか！
私たちが自由の鐘を鳴らせば、その時にはすべての村という村で、
すべての集落という集落で、すべての州という州、街という街において、
神の子どもたちとなったすべての者らが、
黒人も白人も、ユダヤ人も異邦人も、
プロテスタントも カトリックも、すべての者らが手に手を取って、
あの古い黒人霊歌を口ずさむようになることであろう。
「自由だ！自由だ！全能の神に感謝すべきかな。私たちはついに自由になった！」
