What a move.

What a move.

It is 19:00 at Haneda Airport on a weekday. The airport is full of businessmen.

I hadn't traveled on a weekday for a long time, and I didn't expect it to be so full of businessmen.

(I always take the first flight on Sunday or the last flight on Saturday.)

The fact that so many businessmen are traveling.

(I always travel on the first train on Sunday or the last train on Saturday, which is nice and free.

The kingdom of business travel. Japan is a country where white-collar intellectual productivity is very low in the world.

Are they getting the added value for their travel?

From an accounting perspective, everything associated with people is a cost.

The costs of travel, transportation, labor, and lodging.

Is the added value worth it? I wonder how many people think about the value they are adding to their lives by moving from place to place.

By the way, even if you don't go out, you are still incurring costs. Rent for office space and work space. Necessary utilities.

Wherever people exist and move, costs are incurred. When you hire someone, that's when the costs start to accrue.

When I began working with American franchise headquarters, I was amazed at the thoroughness of their thinking in this area.

It was a great learning experience. Not only movement, but also guidance is online. Sales and development are also online.

What is the purpose of travel? Remote meetings, meetings with business partners, inspection tours, travel, and so on.

Going there on a private trip is a pleasure in itself, and travel for purposes other than travel will disappear sooner or later. I think so.

If we ignore the ancillary purposes, travel itself will lose its meaning.

The Internet and e-mail have fundamentally changed the way work used to be done.

Further advances include videoconferencing and PC conferencing. Various software products have been developed in pursuit of greater convenience.

What will emerge as an extension of this trend? We are beginning to see it little by little.

The world that can be done on the Internet is expanding more and more.

Which way is tomorrow?
