I went on a business trip to Indonesia and Vietnam for about 10 days in mid-October.

This business trip was related to the franchise business and the restaurant business.

Both countries were new to me, but I noticed a lot of things.

There is a big difference between actually hearing about something and actually seeing it. It is hard for people to start moving unless they actually see it.

This time, a local company asked us to introduce them to a good Japanese franchise business that they would like to develop in their country.

Recently, we have received many inquiries from Asian companies interested in Japanese franchise businesses.

I have been involved in Japanese franchising for about 20 years (both as a head office and as a franchisee), and I believe that Asian companies want in-depth information on various Japanese franchises.




Everything was more advanced than I expected in Jakarta, with a GDP growth rate of 5.8%. It is one of the fastest growing countries.

Resources and population. These two are the keys to this country.

It goes without saying that it is a resource-rich country, but its population, which is the fourth largest in the world, is also very attractive.

→The world's top four in population are China, India, the U.S., and Indonesia. By the way, according to him, the 3rd most populous country in the world is not the U.S. The 3rd most populous country is Facebook (500 million members, borderless...).

And there are a great many people in their 20s. It is like looking at Japan some years ago.

We were guided around the malls owned by the Podmoro Group, a local developer, and everywhere we went, the scale of the malls was larger than that of Japan.

It would not be surprising if you could say you were in Japan when you were in the malls. On the other hand, it seems to be difficult to open a store outside of a mall.

There are also many Japanese-style restaurants. There are also many Japanese-style restaurants.

There are many Japanese companies such as Pepper Lunch, Otoya, Yoshinoya, Gyukaku, etc. They are all doing well.

They are all doing quite well.




The other day, I was told by a bigwig from a major beer company that more than 90% of Japanese restaurants around the world are run by non-Japanese.

The more the value of Japanese food and Japanese cuisine increases, the more people all over the world will make "...modo".

Japan is also trying its best to export Japanese food! but it's still not enough.

But it's still a long way to go.




In Ho Chi Minh City, development is still lagging behind, and the only thing that can be called a mall is Lotte Mart, which is small in scale.

The location strategy is similar to Japan. At this stage, we are mainly opening stores in commercial areas.

Japanese managers are doing very well. I am amazed at their insight in opening sushi and yakiniku restaurants, both of which they spotted early on.

In the mall, one Metro store was opened by a German capital.

According to the head of the Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, "In order to prevent foreign capital from suppressing the mall market in the future, the government and the private sector will work together to build a huge mall in our country.

I am sure that within 4 to 5 years, more and more malls will be built in Ho Chi Minh City.

I am looking forward to the future.




What both countries have in common is that they are very pro-Japanese. There is an environment there that makes it easy for Japanese companies to expand their business.

It is good to say, "We can still grow in Japan! But if we look at Southeast Asia from a different perspective, I think we will be able to expand our horizons and develop our business in many different ways.
